Hinchingbrooke Hospital has become the first in the UK to install a brand new GE Vibe CT scanner, promising to speed up heart scan appointments and enhance patient care.

The next generation scanner uses artificial intelligence to deliver clear cardiovascular images in a single heartbeat, meaning patients no longer need to take beta blocker drugs before scans.

This upgrade replaces the hospital’s previous scanner, which was eleven years old.

The new equipment was funded by the Fit for the Future NHS England programme.

It’s expected to help the hospital see more patients and reduce waiting times, as well as improve overall patient experience.

Hinchingbrooke Hospital, part of North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, carried out more than twenty-seven thousand CT scans last year, highlighting how important this technology is for local people.
