Man disqualified from driving after riding motorised bike whilst drunk

A man caught riding an adapted bicycle while over the legal alcohol limit has been banned from the roads.

Police came across 27-year-old Tomas Matulis riding a bike in Cromwell Road, St Neots, on Tuesday 21 October.

They noticed he was not pedalling, and the bike had been adapted to be used as a motor vehicle, with an engine attached.

Officers pulled him over and noticed a strong smell of alcohol.

He blew 93 at the roadside, more than twice the legal limit of 35.

Matulis, pleaded guilty to drink driving, driving without insurance and driving without a valid licence at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (6 November).

He was disqualified for 20 months and ordered to pay a fine of £230.
