A man has been jailed for frightening his ex-partner with a knife while wearing a balaclava in Peterborough.
28 year old Logan Cook , who was subject to a restraining order preventing him from contacting his former partner, committed the offence on 28th August 2024 outside her home.
Cook approached the victim and two others, shouting aggressively, while armed and dressed in black, prompting them to flee into a nearby block of flats before seeking refuge in the victim's house.
The victim reported the incident to the police the following day. Investigations revealed that the car Cook used belonged to his new partner, and he was residing in Northamptonshire.
Northamptonshire police officers later spotted the vehicle, leading to a pursuit. Cook attempted to escape on foot but was arrested after being chased down.
Earlier this year, Cook pleaded guilty to harassment - breach of a restraining order and possession of a knife in a public place. A further charge of threatening a person with a knife was ordered to lie on file, and he was given an additional four-year restraining order.
Judge Matthew Lowe, during sentencing, described Cook as a "troubled man" and criticised his efforts to intimidate and frighten the victim.
DC Igor Simonov remarked on the case, saying, "Cook deliberately turned up at the victim’s home armed with a knife and disguised, clearly intending to frighten her.
"His behaviour was terrifying and completely unacceptable. Thanks to swift, coordinated work by officers across two counties, he was identified, located, and arrested before he could cause any further harm.
"We hope this sentence brings the victim some reassurance and sends a clear message that we will not tolerate intimidation, harassment, or violence.
"Anyone who chooses to behave in this way will be robustly pursued and brought before the courts."
