A man has been jailed for over nine years for raping a teenage girl in Cambridge.

32 year old Steven Coulson got into bed with girl in the early hours of January 8th 2024 and began touching her.

Despite the girl’s protests, Coulson continued his assault and pulled her back when she attempted to leave the bed.

After the incident, Coulson handed himself in to Parkside Police Station on 10th January.

He initially denied the accusations during the police interview.

However, on 6th August at Cambridge Crown Court, Coulson, from Newton Close, Cottenham, South Cambridgeshire, was found guilty of rape and assault.

He received a sentence of nine years and nine months and was issued with an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and a restraining order.

Coulson will also remain on the Sex Offenders Register for life.

Detective Sergeant Molly Halksworth, who led the investigation, commented on the outcome:

“Coulson is a dangerous man who took advantage of the victim so I’m glad he’s been brought to justice.

“I would also like to pay tribute to the victim’s bravery in coming forward and supporting us with a prosecution.”
