A man has been jailed after he stabbed another man in his own garden following a row over money.

Mason Bell, 29, turned up at the victim’s home at about noon on 4 August 2022 to find him in an outbuilding in his garden.

Bell accused the victim of owing him money and after a short, heated argument, he pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim in the leg and stomach before running off.

The victim, who was treated in hospital and released later the same day, contacted police, and Bell was soon tracked down to a nearby property where he was found hiding behind a sofa.

At Peterborough Crown Court on Friday (4 July), Bell, of no fixed abode, was jailed for one year and nine months after pleading guilty to causing grievous bodily harm without intent.

DC Neil Patrick, who investigated, said: “Bell turned up to the victim’s house armed with a knife and prepared to use it."

"He is lucky he didn’t inflict more serious injuries, but the sentence shows how seriously this type of violence is treated by the courts.”
