Man found hiding in bushes sentenced for drugs offences
22-year-old Elijah Bussue avoided jail
A man who was found hiding in bushes by a police dog has been sentenced for drugs offences.
Cambridgeshire Police say their Road Policing Unit were on patrol on the A141 between Chatteris and March when a BMW X3 passed them smelling of cannabis at 2.40am on 19 January.
They followed the vehicle, which was driving at speeds in excess of 90mph, through Huntingdon, along the A14 and onto the A1198 where a stinger was deployed.
The vehicle came to a stop on a farm track off the A1198 and Police Dog Clifford tracked down Elijah Bussue hiding in some nearby bushes.
In the vehicle the team found the boot crammed full of cannabis plants with a street value of £150,000.
The 22-year-old, of Everest Way, Hemel Hempstead, claimed he was sat in the passenger seat and the cannabis didn’t belong to him.
At Cambridge Crown Court on Monday (19 May), Bussue, was sentenced to 22 months in prison, suspended for two years after pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply cannabis.
He must also carry out 200 hours unpaid work.
