Man jailed for 24 years for attempting to murder partner in March

A 40-year-old man has been sentenced to 24 years in prison for attempting to murder his partner who had ended their relationship.
The incident took place in March, Cambridgeshire, when Ashley Hudson attacked the victim after she had decided to end the relationship.
Hudson had initially agreed to move out by 13th October last year.
However, on 9th October, he assaulted her as she slept in her home.
Court reports revealed he used a homemade Taser-type device to inflict burns before stabbing her repeatedly with a potato knife, targeting her face and head.
After the attack, Hudson forced the victim to shower and clean herself before fleeing the scene.
Despite severe injuries, the victim managed to find help at a neighbour’s house.
Hudson called emergency services, admitting to stabbing his partner and expressing uncertainty about how many times he attacked her.
When officers arrived, they found the victim injured and distressed.
Investigators discovered Hudson had monitored the victim’s phone and social media accounts and previously installed surveillance equipment in their home.
He controlled her medication intake, which left her over-medicated and fatigued over two months.
Officers later arrested Hudson in a field near March.
During police interviews, Hudson claimed he blacked out after seeing the victim asleep.
Detective Sergeant Steve Ward highlighted the brutality of the attack and commended the victim's bravery in supporting the prosecution.
Ward expressed hope that the sentencing would offer the victim a sense of justice and help her in moving forward.
