A lorry driver from Norfolk has admitted causing the death of a mother who was struck in the head by crane equipment while pushing a pram in Cambridgeshire.

30 year old Rebecca Ableman was hit while walking her two-year-old daughter on the B1050 in Willingham in September 2022.

71 year old Kevin Miller from King's Lynn had gone on trial last year after denying causing death by dangerous driving. His trial was halted in April 2025 and a new trial was due to start this week.

However, Miller has now admitted causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving at a hearing in Peterborough Crown Court. He is due to be sentenced on the 14th of April.

The court was previously told the lorry driver was transporting scrap metal from King's Lynn docks to two Network Rail depots in Essex and Cambridgeshire on the 22nd of September 2022.

As the vehicle passed through Willingham, loose crane equipment was hanging over the edge of a trailer and Ms Ableman was struck in the head. She died in hospital several weeks later.
