Man jailed after stabbing housemate in the head for not washing up

A man from Peterborough has been sentenced to one-year-and-eight-months in prison after stabbing his housemate in the head after an argument over washing up.

54-year-old Lloyd Heffernan stabbed the victim with a breadknife at their house in New Road, Woodston, Peterborough.

In February 2024, an argument began between the housemates began as Heffernan discovered the victim hadn't done the washing up.

A fight ensued before Heffernan grabbed a knife and stabbed him directly in the head.

The victim called the police and was taken to Peterborough City Hospital with serious injuries. He has since recovered.

Heffernan tried to flee but was later arrested.

He denied the charges but was found guilty of inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent on Thursday (11th December) at Cambridge Crown Court.
