A man has confessed to murdering another man in a hostel in Cambridge.

Liam Rush, 31, admitted to stabbing 58-year-old Granville Graham multiple times in the bedroom they shared at the Chesterton Road hostel.

The incident occurred around 1am on 25th February 2025.

Rush fled the scene, but handed himself over to authorities eight hours later at Parkside Police Station.

He appeared at Peterborough Crown Court today, where he admitted murder.

Detective Inspector Caeva Taylor, from the Major Crime Unit, commented on the case: “This was a tragic and deeply distressing incident, our thoughts remain with Granville’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time."

Granville Graham's family celebrated his character in a statement: "Granville, talented barber and singer, was a special soul with an infectious, happy-go-lucky spirit that brightened the lives of everyone around him."

They added that he was known for his humour and willingness to support others, and described the loss felt by his nine sisters, one brother, eight children, and grandchild alongside many friends and family members across Cambridge, London, and Jamaica.

Granville Graham's death has been felt deeply by all who knew him.

Liam Rush will face sentencing on 8th July.
