Hospital car park fire cause confirmed

An investigation into a fire in a car park at Addenbrooke's Hospital has found the cause was a mechanical fault with a diesel vehicle.

Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service were called at 4.16pm on Saturday (13 December) to reports of multiple vehicles involved in the blaze.

Hundreds more were trapped in the car park whilst the fire was dealt with. No injuries were reported.

The service has concluded the fire started accidentally.
