Police launch murder investigation after Peterborough man dies in fatal collision

Detectives have arrested a man on suspicion of murder.

Police have launched a murder investigation following a fatal collision in Willesden.

Officers were called when a man was hit by a car on Chapel Close at 12:44 yesterday afternoon. Police. Paramedics from the London Ambulance service treated the man but he died at the scene.

The man has been named as 34-year-old Ruben Nunes from Peterborough.

Today, a 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody.

Detective Chief Superintendent Luke Williams, who leads policing in the area, said: “This is a distressing incident and we understand the concern it will cause for the local community.

“Our thoughts are with Ruben’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“If you live nearby, you can expect to see an increased police presence in the area while officers carry out their investigation. This will include an increase of officers on patrol – please do speak to them if you have any worries or concerns.

“If you know what happened, or have dashcam or mobile phone footage of the incident, it is important that you please come forward and contact us.”

Enquiries into the circumstances remain ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting CAD 3367/3Dec.
