Free kids holiday activities to be offered across Peterborough
They'll be at more than 50 venues
Peterborough City Council has announced it will be offering no-cost kids Summer holiday activities at more than 50 venues across the city.
A whole host of fun-filled activities, from football and swimming to den building and roller skating, will be on hand to keep primary and secondary school-aged children, including those with special educational needs and disabilities, entertained over the extended summer break.
Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Councillor Katy Cole said: “I’m delighted that once again we are offering so many different activities throughout the Summer holidays for children of all ages.“
Bookings for the Summer Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme open on Monday, June 22. More than 21,000 places will be available during the summer school holidays, with eligible children being offered up to 16 four-hour sessions at no cost to their family.
To be eligible, children and young people must live in Peterborough (or attend a Peterborough school) and be in receipt of benefit-related free school meals.
“We have hundreds of sessions available at venues across the city,” Cllr Cole said. “I would urge anyone whose child is eligible to have a look at what is on offer near them.”
The goal of the programme is to enable children to be active over the school holidays, eat healthily, and learn more about health and nutrition, while also giving them the chance to blow off some steam by taking part in fun, engaging and enriching activities.
“Children will be provided with healthy food and activities and can socialise with other children, giving them the opportunity to try out new things,” Cllr Cole added.
