Firefighters are tackling a large farm fire in Cambridgeshire as smoke blows onto the M11.

At 1.58pm on Wednesday (20 August), crews were called to a blaze on Hinton Way in Great Shelford.

Around 50 firefighters, including crews from Cambridge, Littleport, Ely, Burwell, Gamlingay, St Neots, Chatteris and Huntingdon, along with the roaming fire engines and crews from Newmarket in Suffolk and Royston, attended the incident.

They arrived to find a well-developed fire involving a tractor that spread to large area of field.

Emergency services continue work to tackle the fire and prevent it from spreading further.

Residents that are impacted by the smoke are urged to keep their doors and windows closed as a precaution.

The smoke is also impacting the M11 between Duxford and Trumpington, with Cambridgeshire Fire & Rescue Service asking motorists to slow down and drive with caution through the area.
