Equipment valued at tens of thousands of pounds has been taken from a farm in Cambridgeshire.

Between 7pm on 16th June and 6am the following day, 22 GPS display screens were stolen from tractors and machinery at Hainey Farm, located on Barway Road near Soham. Additionally, the machinery suffered damage during the theft.

Sergeant Tom Nuttall from the Rural Crime Action Team (RCAT) highlighted the impact of the crime: "This is a substantial theft that has had a significant financial impact on the victim’s business. These systems are vital for modern farming, and their loss can severely disrupt operations and the national food chain.”

According to Sergeant Nuttall, the theft might be linked to organised groups targeting rural areas for GPS equipment. Police are seeking information from anyone who was in the Barway Road area overnight or noticed suspicious activities.

Farmers and rural businesses are urged to enhance their security measures by removing GPS units when not in use, parking in secure or well-lit places, installing CCTV and alarms, and marking equipment for identification.

Anyone with information should contact Cambridgeshire Police.
