A drug dealer who attempted to evade police by hiding in bushes in Peterborough has been sentenced to over four years in prison.
Mohammed Mayar, 23, fled from neighbourhood officers on the night of 31st July when he was spotted with a drug user on Oxford Road, Millfield.
During the pursuit, Mayar dropped a plastic bag containing 243 wraps of class A drugs, comprising 68 wraps of crack cocaine and 175 wraps of heroin, collectively valued at up to £2,430.
He was eventually located hiding in Century Square, Millfield, and officers discovered he was carrying £107.25 in cash.
Mayar, of no fixed address, initially denied the charges of possession with intent to supply heroin and crack cocaine but was found guilty after a trial at Cambridge Crown Court in February.
On 23rd July, he was sentenced to four-and-a-half years behind bars.
Detective Constable Gracz, who led the investigation, remarked, “This is not Mayar’s first drug dealing conviction as he had been given a suspended sentence just over a week before this arrest. Drug dealing and its associated criminality can have a big impact on communities, and I would like to encourage anyone with concerns to report them.”
Community members with concerns or information about drugs can report to police online through the dedicated drugs information webpage.
