An 18-year-old drug dealer has been sentenced to prison following an incident involving a firearm in a Peterborough park.

Hamdard Khan was involved in an altercation in Central Park during the early hours of 9th March last year, when a gun was reported to have been fired.

Upon arrival, police discovered a folding lock knife and five spent firearm casings at the scene.

CCTV footage identified Khan, leading to a search of his home on Thistlemoor Road, New England, Peterborough, where authorities found cocaine and heroin valued at £1,310, over £400 in cash, 60 blank firing rounds matching those found at the park, a machete, and an extendable baton.

Khan, who later moved to Scotswood Crescent, Leicester, faced charges of possession with intent to supply crack cocaine, supplying heroin, and supplying cocaine.

While on bail, Khan was involved in another altercation on 26th November in Geneva Street, Peterborough, alongside another man, Rihaem Khan, 23.

The second altercation involved pieces of wood and a knife, with Rihaem Khan captured on CCTV throwing punches and using a brick as a weapon.

Two individuals sustained minor injuries, with one person requiring hospital treatment for a head wound.

Hamdard Khan pleaded guilty to the drug charges as well as an affray count stemming from the November incident.

At Cambridge Crown Court on 13th March, he received a 26-month jail term.

Rihaem Khan, who has no known address, admitted to affray and was sentenced to 200 hours of unpaid work.

DC Nik Loizou commented on the incident: “This was a worrying incident for local residents, with a firearm being discharged in a popular public place.

“Hamdard Khan was clearly involved in supplying class A drugs, with the evidence giving him little choice but to plead guilty.

“These substances lead to addiction and misery, as they destroy lives and contribute to crime in the city.”
