Driver suffers serious injuries after A1 lorry collision in Cambridgeshire
A driver is seriously hurt but stable in hospital
A driver has suffered serious injuries following a collision in the early hours today on the A1 near Stibbington, involving two lorries.
The incident, which happened on the northbound carriageway at around 2.49am, left a 43-year-old man from Saltburn, Cleveland, seriously injured.
He was taken to hospital where he remains in stable condition.
The other driver involved, a 50-year-old from Great Barr, Birmingham, sustained minor injuries and was also hospitalised for treatment.
He has since been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving while over the drug-drive limit, and possession of cannabis.
Police are holding him in custody while further investigations are underway.
The force are now asking anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either lorry before the incident to get in touch.
Motorists who have dashcam footage are especially encouraged to come forward.
