Beatrice Elliott, a 31-year-old woman from Chatteris, has been jailed for 16 months for an attempted arson attack on her neighbour’s home.

The incident occurred in the early hours of 14th April following a dispute between Elliott and her neighbours.

Elliott approached the front door of her neighbour's property, lit a deodorant can, and placed it through the letterbox.

Fortunately, the fire did not spread and was quickly extinguished by a man inside the house.

Police attended the scene and arrested Elliott, who resides on Barley Close, Chatteris.

She admitted the charge of attempted arson at a previous hearing and was sentenced at Cambridge Crown Court on 2nd October.

PC Boots commented on the incident, saying: “Elliott’s behaviour that night was completely reckless.

“This incident could have been far worse. Luckily, the fire didn’t spread, and nobody was injured.”
