Police have uncovered a cannabis factory in Melbourn.

Officers from the South Cambridgeshire Neighbourhood Team discovered more than 360 cannabis plants across two floors in the industrial unit in Saxon Way on Thursday.

The plants, with a street value of more than £300k, along with growing equipment have been seized.

The plants were found inside one of the industrial units.

No arrests have been made, and an investigation is ongoing.

Neighbourhood Sergeant Chris Daniel said: “Officers were carrying out proactive patrols in the area yesterday when they were drawn to the signs of a suspected cannabis factory.

“Growing and selling cannabis is not only illegal but can also generate funds for gangs to use in other criminal enterprises.

“We will continue to disrupt drug dealing networks and stop criminals making money from the illegal drugs trade and we continue to ask for the communities support in doing this.”
