Two men have been jailed after violent burglaries in East Cambridgeshire where they posed as police officers.

At around 11.30pm on 13 November 2024, Helal Aldawode, 24, and three others forced their way into a home on Church Lane, Littleport. Shouting “POLICE,” they threatened an elderly couple in bed and demanded money from two teenage girls upstairs. They fled after six minutes, leaving empty-handed.

Just a week earlier, at 3.40am on 6 November 2024, Bongani Ngozi, 23, was part of a group of six who smashed into a home on Ely Road, Witcham Toll. A 14-year-old boy was struck with the claw side of a hammer, and a man in his 40s was repeatedly attacked while protecting his family. Again, the attackers left with nothing.

At Peterborough Crown Court on 6 September 2025, Ngozi was sentenced to 15 years for aggravated burglary. Aldawode received ten years and two months for the Littleport break-in and weapon possession.

Detectives called the raids “terrifying” and praised the victims’ courage.
