Cambridgeshire police investigate hoax stabbing call

An investigation has been launched after Cambridgeshire Police received a 999 call falsely claiming there had been a stabbing.

The force say the caller stated he had stabbed his sister and requested urgent assistance from paramedics and police officers.

While trying to engage with the caller and keep him on the line, another call handler received a web chat from a person reporting that they were watching a man on live stream, reporting a fake stabbing to police.

Emergency responders arrived swiftly but found an empty property with a woman unaware of any incident.

Police searched the premises and surrounding area, concluding that the call was a fabrication.

Cambridgeshire Constabulary is investigating the case as malicious communications.

Hoax calls to emergency services are a serious offence and can result in a prison sentence of up to six months or a fine of £5,000.
