An electrician from Littleport has been jailed for two years for cyberflashing after changing his WhatsApp profile picture to indecent images while messaging female customers.

Liam Brodie, 34, was approached by a woman in 2024 for a quote on electrical work, but became hesitant upon learning her husband would be meeting him, according to Cambridgeshire Constabulary.

The woman then noticed Brodie had altered his profile picture from his company logo to a photo of his genitals.

When confronted, Brodie claimed his account had been hacked, only to change the image again to naked photos of himself.

Later that year, another woman seeking a quote received unsolicited images from Brodie and reported him after blocking his account.

Police investigations revealed Brodie had sent unwanted images to a third woman as well.

Brodie pleaded guilty to three charges of sending photos or films of his genitals to cause alarm, distress, or humiliation.

He was sentenced at Huntingdon Law Courts on Monday.

PC Coralie Skillings commented on the case, saying: “Digital indecent exposure, or cyberflashing, is sometimes dismissed as ‘funny’, but it's a form of sexual violence.

"Brodie maybe thought because he changed his profile picture rather than sending the image directly, he would get away with it. However, his intention for the women to see the photo was there and that is an offence.”
