A 54-year-old man has been jailed for more than four years after a brutal attack on another man in Cambridge was caught on CCTV.

Steven Holland pleaded guilty to wounding with intent and was sentenced to four years and two months in prison at Cambridge Crown Court on 3rd December.

The violent assault took place on 29th January earlier this year, at a property off Tenison Road in Cambridge. Holland repeatedly hit, kicked, and stabbed a 50-year-old man, who had visited the location in search of a friend.

CCTV footage reveals sustained attack

According to police, Holland initially claimed he had tried to help the man. However, CCTV footage showed him carrying out the attack, which included dragging the victim into a walkway before returning to continue the assault as the man tried to walk away.

The victim was left with multiple injuries, including a broken nose, two black eyes, broken ribs, knife wounds to his face and neck, and extensive bruising. He was treated at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.

Police statement

Detective Constable Morgan French praised the decision to jail Holland and highlighted the impact on the victim:

“This was a sustained and violent attack which left a man with serious injuries.

“Hopefully with Holland behind bars the victim can continue the process of recovering from the trauma of this horrific attack.”

Holland admitted his guilt in court after the compelling CCTV evidence provided a detailed account of the assault.
