Police are investigating after a cash machine was taken in a ram raid at a supermarket in Burwell.

Officers responded to reports at 4.57am today (17th June) that a stolen telehandler, along with two additional vehicles, was used to extract a cash machine from the front of the Asda store on Ness Road.

Detective Inspector Jim Donington emphasised the impact of such events: “We understand incidents like this are concerning for local residents, particularly given this is the second ram raid in the county in two days.

Dedicated patrols are in place and we are actively investigating both incidents."

Police are urging the public for information that could aid their investigation.

“We would urge anyone who sees suspicious behaviour, or who knows of vehicles that may have been stolen or are being used in unusual circumstances, to report this to us.

Information from the public is vital in helping us prevent further offences and identify those responsible,” Detective Inspector Donington said.

Authorities are interested in hearing from anyone who witnessed the ram raid, observed suspicious activity or vehicles in the vicinity, or has dashcam, doorbell, or CCTV footage related to the incident.
