A 24-year-old man, has been sentenced to five years and 10 months in prison after pleading guilty to multiple burglaries, including the theft of a three-month-old puppy and six firearms.

The break-in occurred on 18th March when Sullivan Lee smashed the patio doors of a residence on Hardwick Road in Toft.

Among the items stolen were a Dachshund puppy named Peggy, firearms from two cabinets, a blue Mini, and keys for a Toyota Hilux.

Footage from CCTV showed Lee driving a black Audi S3 in convoy with the stolen Mini, which aided officers in identifying him.

His DNA was recovered from the abandoned Mini, discovered in Northamptonshire on 24th March.

That Audi was stolen days earlier in Flitwick, Bedfordshire.

Peggy was found four days after the burglary and safely returned to her owner after a media appeal.

Furthermore, Lee’s DNA linked him to another burglary in Little Eriswell, Brandon, Suffolk on 10th May, where jewellery worth £800 was taken.

On 31st March at Cambridge Crown Court, Lee, who has no fixed address, admitted to three counts of burglary and theft of a motor vehicle.

PC Andy Smith from the Southern Acquisitive Crime Team commented: “Thankfully in this case, Peggy was found and returned to her owners. Lee repeatedly targeted people’s homes with no regard for the fear and distress he caused. We hope this sentence offers some reassurance that we will continue to pursue and bring prolific burglars to justice.”
