A prolific burglar who broke into four homes across Cambridgeshire in a single day has been jailed.

43-year-old Mark Turner, of Green End, Landbeach, carried out the burglaries on 9th June.

He targeted homes in Market Street in Fordham, two in Rushden Close in Fulbourn, and Burnside in Cambridge.

What was stolen

During the offences, Turner stole a range of items including a laptop, a Nintendo Switch, handbags and purses, a birthday card, jewellery, cash and watches.

Detectives used CCTV from the affected homes and surrounding areas to identify him.

He was arrested later the same day and found carrying some of the stolen goods, including jewellery, watches and Euros.

Sentencing

At Cambridge Crown Court on Thursday 10th September, Turner was sentenced to two years and 10 months after previously admitting four counts of burglary.

He also admitted two further burglaries while in custody, in Isaacson Road in Burwell and Marion Close in Cambridge, which were taken into consideration at his sentencing.

Detective Constable Samantha Chapman, from the Acquisitive Crime Team, said: "Burglary can have a devastating impact on victims, who often feel violated knowing someone has entered their home and stolen their possessions.

"Thanks to quick reporting, CCTV and swift investigative work, we were able to quickly identify Turner and recover some of the stolen property. I hope this sentence provides reassurance that we will continue to pursue offenders and bring them before the courts."
