Fenland District Council is appealing for information following the illegal disposal of a boat and two waste-stuffed caravans in various locations across Fenland.

On 8th June, a report was received of a boat being abandoned in High Side, Gorefield, which was promptly removed the same day.

In addition, two caravans, laden with rubbish, have been illegally discarded in March and Wisbech over recent weeks.

These incidents are costing taxpayers significant amounts of money for clean up.

A spokesperson for Fenland District Council stated: “We take reports of fly-tipping very seriously and aim to prosecute the people responsible. Fly-tipping can lead to a prison sentence and unlimited fine.”

Fly-tipping poses a serious threat not only due to its illegality but also due to the potential dangers of the waste, which may include hazardous materials.

Residents and businesses should ensure any waste disposal is handled by properly registered carriers to avoid contributing to such offences.

One of the caravans, found on Flagrasshill Road, March, was particularly hazardous as it contained asbestos.

The site was safely cleared by specialist contractors before the caravan's removal on 11th June.

The council provides a bulky waste removal service to assist residents with lawful disposal of household waste.

Any sightings of fly-tipping should be documented with specifics such as location, date, time, and if possible, vehicle registrations or identifiable features of those involved.

Residents are advised not to disturb the waste as it may contain dangerous materials.
