Man charged with assisting offender accused of murdering Saudi student in Cambridge

A 50-year-old man from Cambridge has been charged with assisting an offender in the murder of Mohammed Algasim.

Peter Corrigan, of Vinter Terrace, appeared at Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (14 August) and was remanded to appear at Cambridge Crown Court on 11 September.

Mr Algasim, 20, from Saudi Arabia, was killed on 1 August in Cambridge after being stabbed in the neck. A post-mortem examination confirmed he died from a single stab wound.

Chas Corrigan, 21, of Holbrook Road, Cambridge, has already been charged with murder and appeared at Cambridge Crown Court on 6 August. He was remanded and is due to appear again on 8 September, with a provisional trial date set for 9 February 2026.

Mr Algasim had been in Cambridge on a 10-week placement studying English. His family said he was "a young man brimming with enthusiasm."
