Police are investigating after four alpacas and a sheep were shot dead in East Hatley, near Gamlingay. A fifth alpaca survived but suffered a gunshot wound to its face.

The incident took place between 6pm on Saturday, 22 March, and 8.30am on Sunday, 23 March, off Main Street. Officers have conducted house-to-house enquiries and are now urging anyone with information to come forward.

Sergeant Tom Nuttall, from the Rural Crime Action Team, said: “This was a highly distressing crime that has caused death and serious injury to defenceless animals. I would encourage anyone who knows anything about this offence to get in touch as soon as possible.”

Police are asking for anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area or has CCTV or dashcam footage to contact them.
