Albanian drug dealer jailed after Cambridge officers find 18 bags of cocaine in car
Further checks revealed the man had no settled status or visa and was driving without a valid licence or insurance
An Albanian drug dealer found with 18 bags of cocaine in Cambridge has been jailed.
Neighbourhood officers were on patrol in Cambridge on 26 March when they spotted a silver Mazda they suspected had links to drug dealing.
Sitting in the driver’s seat was 26-year-old Mariglen Sadiku and a search revealed he was carrying 18 bags of cocaine in the vehicle and his pockets worth more than £650. They also found £207 in cash.
Further checks revealed Sadiku, of no fixed abode, had no settled status or visa and was driving without a valid licence or insurance.
At Cambridge Crown Court on Friday (30 May), Sadiku was sentenced to three years in prison after previously pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply drugs, possession of criminal property, driving without a licence and driving without insurance.
PC Rachel Burnett, from the Neighbourhood Support Team, said: “This proactive stop by our officers reflects our dedication in responding to community intelligence and we will continue in our efforts to disrupt the illegal supply of drugs in order to keep the public safe.”
