A West Country school pupil's reportedly died after a tragic skiing accident in the Italian Dolomites.

It's thought a Year 9 Bristol student passed away while on a half term trip with his parents.

According to widespread reports the 14-year-old boy - who's not been named - suffered fatal injuries to his chest in the Italian resort of Cortina.

It's thought he veered off a red run at high speed and hit a tree.

The Mayor of Cortina's been quoted as saying he feels deeply sorry for the boy's family.

An FCDO spokesperson said: “We are supporting the family of a British National who has died in Italy and are in touch with the local authorities.”
