Trial date set for man charged with attempted murder after Speedwell shooting

A trial date has been set for a man charged with attempted murder after a gun was fired at a car.
William Scammell, 24, from Speedwell, appeared before Bristol Crown Court by video link today.
He is charged with attempted murder and being in possession of a shortened shotgun.
The charges follow an incident in which a gun was fired at a car in the Speedwell area of Bristol on April 1.
Avon and Somerset Police previously said a man, aged in his 20s, had sustained serious injuries.
Scammell did not enter pleas to the charges against him and a trial was listed on October 5.
Judge Michael Cullum told Scammell: “This hearing is going to be put back to June 8.
“On that day, you will be produced by video link again and you will be asked about your pleas to this matter.”
Ramin Pakrooh appeared for the prosecution, while Ehsan Oarith represented Scammell.
The case will next be heard at Bristol Crown Court on June 8.
