Tom Lockyer launches exclusive football sticker to support Heart Month in Bristol
Bristol Rovers defender partners with Panini to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation
Bristol Rovers defender Tom Lockyer is collaborating with Panini to launch a limited-edition sticker aimed at supporting the British Heart Foundation (BHF).
Fans attending Bristol Rovers' home match against Grimsby Town on 21st February will have the exclusive opportunity to obtain the Tom Lockyer stickers.
Lockyer, now 31, made headlines after surviving a cardiac arrest during a match on 16th December 2023. Thanks to prompt assistance from bystanders and club medics, his life was saved. Lockyer spent five days in hospital and now lives with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD).
Since his recovery, Lockyer has documented his journey back to football and become an advocate for heart health. His dedication to encouraging CPR learning aligns with his efforts as a BHF ambassador.
Fans who acquire this unique sticker are invited to support the BHF by donating in-person at the Memorial Stadium or through a provided link, with all proceeds directly benefiting the charity.
As an enthusiastic collector, Lockyer expressed his excitement, saying, "I am delighted to be partnering with Panini to bring this limited-edition EFL shiny sticker to Rovers and EFL fans. I honestly thought my days of being on a sticker were over, so to have another one, especially in the blue and white quarters, is something I’m really excited about."
Katie Gritt, Head of Sport Marketing at Panini, highlighted the collaboration's significance, stating, "Knowing that Tom is a big fan of Panini, and missed out on a place in the EFL sticker album due to signing for Bristol Rovers after our print deadline, we were determined to celebrate his return to the pitch."
The funds generated from this special edition sticker will support research into cardiovascular diseases and empower the BHF's initiatives, including teaching CPR for urgent situations.
Louise Gallard, Fundraising Manager for the BHF, expressed the importance of this partnership, saying, "Tom’s recovery has become one of football’s most powerful reminders of the importance of learning CPR. This special Panini sticker isn’t just a collectors’ item; it’s a chance to raise vital funds for the BHF and help more people be ready to save a life."
