Teenager injured and bike stolen in robbery on Bristol to Bath Railway Path

Appeal for witnesses after robbery near Mangotsfield Station

A teenager has been reportedly injured in a robbery on the Bristol to Bath Railway Path in South Gloucestershire where his bicycle was stolen by a group of individuals.

The incident occurred on 12th August near the old Mangotsfield Station.

According to reports, the individuals took a grey Carrera Crossfire 2 bicycle from a boy in his late teens, who suffered minor physical injuries during the encounter.

The robbery is not believed to be related to a serious assault that happened earlier in the week on the same footpath near Bitton.

Authorities have increased uniformed patrols along various locations on the path in recent days to provide reassurance and enhance visibility.

Descriptions of eight individuals who may have been involved have been shared, all described as being in their teens or early 20s.

The group includes teenagers and those in their early 20s, with diverse appearances ranging from white males wearing bucket hats and face coverings to individuals described as Asian, Black, and of mixed heritage.

Police describe them as:

  • Person 1 – white male, 5ft 8ins, of a large build with brown eyes. He was wearing a black bucket hat, black face covering which was pulled up from the neck over his nose, black Adidas coat, black joggers.
  • Person 2 – was wearing black clothing
  • Person 3 – Asian male and of a large build. He was wearing a black bucket hat, dark face covering pulled up over his nose, a thin waterproof jacket with hood and black joggers.
  • Person 4 – Black male, about 6ft 2ins tall, slim build, with messy afro hair. He had a face covering and was wearing a black tracksuit and black joggers with a white stripe. He was a passenger on an e-scooter, ridden by Person 3, that was black in colour, with red accents on the front and back wheel areas, and a screen in the middle.
  • Person 5 – white male wearing a bucket hat and face covering, black jacket and white and black joggers.
  • Person 6 – white male wearing a bucket hat and face covering and a black Nike tracksuit.
  • Person 7 – male of mixed heritage, 6ft 4ins and of a large build. He was wearing a grey tracksuit top and black Nike tracksuit bottoms. He had a bucket hat and a face covering. He was riding a dark grey electric bike.
  • Person 8 – white male, 6ft, average build and dressed in black and wearing a black bucket hat. He was riding a grey road bike with no lights or reflectors.
