Investigation underway after a woman was knocked down on High Street

Police are investigating a serious collision involving a car and a pedestrian in Portbury that's left a woman fighting for her life in hospital.
The incident happened in High Street at around 6.50am this morning.
A woman is currently being treated for life-threatening injuries.
Her next of kin has been informed, according to police.
Officers were joined by emergency services at the scene, where witness statements were gathered and investigations are currently underway.
As a result, the road was closed between the A369 and Mill Lane junctions, with traffic being diverted down Caswell Lane.
