Wayne Rooney leaves Plymouth - as Bristol City prepare for Argyle match
The Robins take on the side in their New Year's Day fixture
A day before Bristol City head on the road south to Plymouth, Argyle have confirmed their boss Wayne Rooney has been shown the door, having left the club 'by mutual consent'.
It's following a difficult season for the club, who currently sit at the bottom of the Championship table.
Assistant Had Coach Mike Phelan and first team coach Simon Ireland, will also be leaving Argyle.
In a statement, the club said: "We would like to thank Wayne and his team for all their efforts and wish them well for the future.
"The club will be making no further comment at this stage with updates on our new first team management staff in due course."
It's good news for the Robins, though, as Bristol City comfortably sit 10th in the Championship table - coming off the back of two league wins on the bounce.
Like the post above asks, well, Wayne Rooney won't be joining - having left Plymouth Argyle 'with immediate effect'.
A victory for Bristol City could see the side leap up to be level on points with West Brom, who currently sit 8th in the table.
Tomorrow's match gets going at 12.30.
