Police renew appeal after hundreds of artefacts reportedly stolen in Bristol
Detective Inspector seeks public help to identify suspects in artefact burglary
Detective Inspector Jason Chidgey is making a public appeal to assist in identifying four individuals connected to a substantial artefact theft in Bristol.
The incident occurred on 25th September between 1 and 2 am from a building in the Cumberland Road area that housed exhibits from Bristol Museum’s British Empire and Commonwealth collection.
Over 600 invaluable items were reportedly stolen.
Images of the four individuals suspected of involvement will be showcased during the program.
Descriptions are as follows:
- Male one is white, of medium to stocky build, wearing a white cap, a black jacket, light trousers, and black trainers
- Male two is white, of slim build, in a grey-hooded jacket with black trousers and trainers
- Male three is white, wearing a green cap, black jacket, light shorts, and white trainers, and noticeably walks with a slight limp in his right leg
- Male four is white, of large build, wearing a two-toned orange and navy/black puffed jacket with black trousers and trainers
DI Chidgey highlighted the irreplaceable nature of the stolen artefacts and their historical and cultural significance.
He expressed hope that the detailed list might help citizens identify items possibly sold or acquired unknowingly.
One man has been arrested for handling stolen goods but was released on police bail.
