Plans for a new banking hub in Portishead have moved forward after a planning application was submitted to North Somerset Council.

The hub has been confirmed to replace the NatWest branch, the only bank left in the town.

The banking hub will be run by Cash Access UK and offer essential services including paying into and withdrawing from accounts, checking balances, and paying utility bills.

A Post Office banking counter will operate within the hub, featuring its logo prominently on the building's signage. Community bankers from banks with the most customers in the area will rotate throughout the week to provide support.

Location details and next steps

The hub is planned for the former Plaza hairdressers premises, situated a short distance from the current NatWest branch. NatWest has confirmed it will remain open until the banking hub is operational.

The planning application outlines requests for new signage and the installation of an ATM at the shopfront.
