A police officer has been sentenced after a 19-year-old woman was seriously injured in a crash in Bristol.
PC Dan Parsons, 32, was driving an unmarked police car to respond to an emergency incident when the crash happened in Emersons Green on 24th November 2024.
The collision occurred on the roundabout where the A4174 joins Badminton Road as PC Parsons drove through a red light at a pedestrian crossing.
The woman, who was hit by the car, suffered serious injuries. She received first aid at the scene from attending officers and paramedics before being taken to hospital.
According to police, the officer had been responding to reports of a suspected firearms incident in Longwell Green.
A Serious Collisions Investigation Team carried out an investigation into the crash, leading to a charge after a referral to the Crown Prosecution Service.
At Gloucester Crown Court today (12th January), PC Parsons was sentenced to a four-month driving ban, a £2,800 fine, and was ordered to pay £1,000 in costs.

"Our thoughts remain with her, as well as her family," Det Supt Hunt said.
