Police investigate Weston blaze that destroyed businesses
Officers are particularly interested in hearing from anyone with CCTV, dashcam, or mobile phone footage.
A police investigation is underway after a major grass fire tore through Locking Farm Industrial Estate in Weston-super-Mare, destroying several businesses and causing widespread disruption.
Avon Fire and Rescue Service was called to the scene just after 3am on Tuesday, with crews from 12 stations battling the flames for more than 14 hours.
The blaze forced the closure of the A371 for most of the day while emergency services worked to bring the situation under control.
Avon and Somerset Police are now appealing for witnesses and urging anyone who saw suspicious activity near the A371 between 2am and 3am to come forward.
Officers are particularly interested in hearing from anyone with CCTV, dashcam, or mobile phone footage from the area at that time.
"We're fortunate that nobody was seriously hurt during this incident, but we know this fire has caused huge concern for local residents and business owners," said neighbourhood Chief Inspector Andy Barry.
The investigation remains at an early stage, and police are working closely with fire crews as they look into the cause of the fire.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Avon and Somerset Police or Crimestoppers anonymously.
