Parents can now register baby's births in Twerton for the first time
Appointments are available every Thursday morning
New parents in Bath and North East Somerset can now register their child's birth in Twerton for the first time.
The service is based at the new Best Start Family Hub which was opened by Bath & North East Somerset Council on 8th October.
Appointments are available every Thursday between 9am and 1pm.
The council said the aim is to give local families a convenient place to register their babies closer to home.
About the hub
The Best Start Family Hub opened in September.
The council said it brings together a range of support for children, young people and families under one roof.
Alongside the birth registration appointments, families can access information and advice services.
There are also groups and drop-in sessions at the hub.
Other places to register
Births in the area can also be registered at the Guildhall in Bath, the One Stop Shop in Keynsham and The Hollies in Midsomer Norton.
There is also a Registration Service office within the Royal United Hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
The council said that office means parents of sick or vulnerable babies can register their child without needing to leave them.
During 2025/26, the Registration Service registered approximately 4,500 births across Bath and North East Somerset at those four locations.
The council said the Twerton service gives families an alternative to travelling into Bath city centre and this should help to reduce travel time and costs.
Councillor Manda Rigby, Cabinet Member for Communications and Community, said: "We are committed to making services as accessible and convenient as possible for local families.
"Registering a birth is one of the first important milestones for new parents, and offering appointments at the Best Start Family Hub means families can access this service closer to home – alongside a range of other support they might need to help children thrive from the very beginning.
"The new service also means that parents have five places where they can choose to register their baby in B&NES."
