Man charged with murder after woman dies in Downend

A 68-year-old man has been charged with murder after a woman died in Downend at the weekend.
Geoffrey Billett, of Overnhill Road, is accused of murdering 69-year-old Jill Billett.
He was arrested at the scene and has been remanded in custody.
What happened
Emergency services were called to an address in Overnhill Road in the early hours of Sunday 27th September.
Mrs Billett was found injured and taken to hospital.
She died a few hours later, according to police.
Geoffrey Billett was arrested at the scene.
Court appearance
Mr Billett has been charged with murder.
He is due to appear before Bristol Magistrates' Court today, Tuesday 29th September.
Police have said no material, commentary or information should be published that could prevent a fair trial taking place.
Mrs Billett's family have been told of the charge, according to police.
They continue to be supported by specially trained officers.
The family have asked for their privacy to be respected.
