'Difficult decision' made as Frome Town's friendly with Yate is called off
Boss Danny Greaves cited unavailability, several players injured and a 'seriously depleted squad'
Frome Town FC says it's made the "difficult decision" to pull out of Saturday's final pre-season friendly with Yate Town.
Boss Danny Greaves cited unavailability, several players injured and a 'seriously depleted squad'.
In a statement on social media, Frome Town said: "CANCELLED! We have made the difficult decision to pull out of Saturday's final pre-season friendly fixture with Yate Town FC.
"Danny Greaves cited unavailability, several players injured and therefore a seriously depleted squad."
Danny said: "We first informed Yate of our situation on Sunday following the Chippenham Town FC match, and have been in dialogue with Darren Mullings over the past few days.
"We had tried to bring in loan players but have been unsuccessful. Yate have also been collaborative in terms of trying to find a solution, but unfortunately our situation remains the same.
"We are aware Yate Town FC have had a disrupted pre-season, and this cancellation does not help them, nor us, but it was a decision we have not taken lightly."
Frome Town added: "All at the Club wish the Bluebells the best of luck ahead of their return to the Southern League Division 1 Prem!
"Onwards to our opener against Tavistock AFC at Badgers Hill on 9th August!"
