Fire service update after barn blaze in Claverham
Firefighters worked through Saturday night (2/8) and well into yesterday afternoon to tackle it
People who live in and near Claverham in North Somerset have been thanked for their patience after a large barn fire over the weekend.
Firefighters worked through Saturday night and well into yesterday afternoon to tackle the blaze - which involved hazardous chemicals.
An 800 metre cordon was put in place around Chestnut Farm at Streamcross, but this has since been lifted.
In an update earlier this morning, Avon Fire and Rescue Service said: "Our presence at the scene was scaled back at 8pm on Sunday 3 August.
"Firefighters continued to inspect the scene regularly throughout the night to monitor the situation and ensure the fire remained under control.
"Crews will continue to revisit the site throughout the day to carry out safety checks and to ensure there is no risk of the fire spreading or escalating.
"The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
"A fire investigation will begin once it is safe to do so."
