A South Gloucestershire music festival has had its event licence denied after noise complaints made in previous years.

The South Gloucestershire Council licensing sub-committee after receiving a number of complaints about heavy bass music flooding nearby homes with one local dubbing it a ‘form of torture’.

Goa Cream Festival was due to take place on Yewtree Farm, just north of Thornbury, from the 12th to 14th of September.

The festival has been held there for the past 2 years but organisers say they’ll now be looking for a new location.

Piers Chapora, organiser of Goa Cream, told Greatest Hits Radio “It seems a great shame that a small group of people can object to something that hundreds of people enjoy over one weekend of the year.”

Mr Chapora expressed his disappointment at the outcome of the meeting but noted that almost half of the tickets have already been sold and they would be looking for alternative options.

“We have a plan B, we have in fact two other locations that are fairly local.

“One is a bit further north towards Gloucester and one towards Tetbury that we’re going to go and check out and see if we can apply there.”
