Police investigating sexual assault of a teen in Bristol release CCTV image
Attack described as 'abhorrent' with great distress caused to the victim and their family
An image of a man police want to speak to in connection with a serious sexual assault has been released as part of an ongoing investigation in Bristol.
The victim, a child in her mid-teens, reported the attack, which occurred in the Portland Square area at around 3.30am on Saturday 20th June, to a passerby who then contacted the police.
The man is described as a man of Asian heritage, aged 20-24, with a skinny build, black curly hair, and a goatee-style beard.
He was last seen wearing grey trousers, a grey and black jacket, white trainers, and riding a dark bicycle.
Investigation and Appeal for Information
Police have been conducting forensic and CCTV investigations, and are now asking the public for help in identifying the man seen in the released image.
According to DC Caitlin Hiles from Avon and Somerset Police's Criminal Investigations Department (CID): “This is an abhorrent incident which has caused great distress to the victim and their family, and safeguarding measures are in place to support them.
"We have maintained contact with the victim who is being regularly updated as the investigation progresses.
“We know incidents like this cause great concern in our community, and we can assure residents a thorough investigation is being carried out, we are treating this incident incredibly seriously and are working hard to identify the man responsible.
“We would appeal to anybody with CCTV or other relevant footage from the Portland Square and Cabot Circus areas between 2.30am and 3.30am to come forward, as well as anybody with information on the incident or on the identity of the man."
