A national social media trend that promotes violence between schools and among pupils has sparked concern in Bristol.

Local neighbourhood officers, along with partner agencies, are working with schools to offer crime prevention advice and ensure police presence for added community reassurance.

Images promoting this trend have been seen on various social media platforms, prompting additional patrols to maintain 'a visible presence'.

Chief Inspector Keith Smith addressed the concerns, highlighting that while the trend has been linked to Bristol schools in social media posts, there is currently no evidence of related incidents occurring in the area.

Chief Inspector Smith said, “We will have a heightened presence in several areas over the next few days which will include reassurance patrols at schools listed on the social media posts and contingency plans will also be in place should we need them.”

Efforts are being made to collaborate with partners and conduct intelligence checks.

Residents are encouraged to report any concerns or contact emergency services if a crime is in progress.
