Brislington fire confirmed as deliberate with firefighters still tackling blaze

Firefighters are still working to tackle a major fire at an industrial unit on Emery Road in Brislington, Bristol, that has been confirmed as deliberately started.
The incident began at 2.27pm yesterday, 1st September, and despite the smoke clearing from the skyline, fire service operations continue over 24 hours later.
At its peak, 16 fire engines were needed as thick smoke spread across the city, but now four engines remain at the scene with crews addressing hotspots inside the severely damaged building.

Station Manager Anna James confirmed that there have been no reported injuries or casualties and stressed there is no known risk to the general public.
James said, "we would like to thank Avon and Somerset Police and Bristol City Council for their support and the general public for their patience while we got the incident under control."
A cordon was placed around the site as a precaution, and people are encouraged to avoid the immediate vicinity and adhere to advice from emergency services.
