The University of Bath has apologised after giving students sitting a three hour exam just two hours to complete it.
An administrative error meant a group of first year physics students had an hour less than they needed.
A spokesperson for the University says they're 'deeply sorry'.
In a statement, they told us: "On Tuesday 27 May 2025, first-year students sat the Foundations of Physics exam. Unfortunately, due to an administrative error, the exam, originally intended to run for three hours, was scheduled for only two.
"The issue was identified shortly before the start of the exam; however, due to subsequent room bookings, it was not possible to extend the session.
"The department issued an immediate apology to students following the exam. Professor Ventsislav Valev, Head of Department, is overseeing a thorough review of the procedures that led to this error."
Professor Valev said: "We are deeply sorry for the confusion and concern this has caused.
"Our priority is to ensure that no student is disadvantaged. We are reviewing our processes to ensure such an error does not occur again."
The University says it has processes in place to take account of any structural issues which might have unfairly impacted students, with the spokesperson adding that supporting students and upholding the integrity of our assessments remain their highest priorities.
